For coats and blazers I usually go one size up if I want to layer sweaters under them. If the first order is a disaster, I prefer to move on and not waste time with support. I like when a shop clearly shows PD, lens height and bridge width in millimeters.

Sometimes customer service can fix a bad experience, but not always. Smaller shops can be surprisingly friendly if they care about repeat customers. Everyone has different expectations, but real photos and detailed comments are useful for everyone. Trendy pieces are fun, but I only buy them when the price is reasonable.
